I am Andreea Carlan and I have dedicated my whole adult life to Intellectual Property. I have worked for British American Tobacco, UCB, Jellycat, Jaguar Land Rover, and in private practice in the City of London.
During this time I also matured as a Commercial and Intellectual Property mediator after starting as a volunteer community mediator at Alternatives for Conflicts, a charity based in this little town called High Wycombe.
Calathea IP was born on a Friday morning, after dropping my little one at school, exhausted about the rigidity, complexity in the corporate world.
That light, those colours, that Friday morning oats cappuccino, inspired me to create a space where intellectual property isn’t just about legal framework and technicalities, but also about real solutions – the ones that foster innovations, protect businesses, and support fair outcomes.
Throughout my career I learnt how a strong IP strategy can open doors, how a well-handled dispute can save relationships, and how the right approach can turn conflicts into opportunity.
Make intellectual property work for people, not against them. Whether through mediation, consultancy, or compliance support, I want to empower individuals and businesses to protect their ideas without fear, to innovate without hesitation and to resolve conflicts with integrity.
Because at the heartbeat of every trademark, copyright, or patent, there is a story and those stories deserve to be safeguarded with care and purpose.
